As the holiday season begins, join us for a spellbinding historical journey presented by
Rochelle Pennington, an award-winning author of two books detailing one of the most well-known shipwrecks of the Great Lakes. The beloved ship and crew which delivered holiday evergreens to the citizens of Chicago each Christmas season was sunk in the Great Storm of 1912. It went to the bottom of Lake Michigan fully loaded with Christmas trees. You will be captivated with century-old photographs, artifacts and little-known facts surrounding the story of The Christmas Tree Ship.
Christmas wreaths, garlands and other holiday items will also be available for sale. Proceeds benefit the projects of the Crystal Lake Historical Society.
